Compaq Presario F572 Review
The Compaq Presario F500 series Notebook PC has a a striking design with repeated in patterns throughout the system, a surface resembling matte steel. The 1.7 GHz AMD Athlon 64 X2 TK-53 processor offers a dual-core architecture - each processing core has a 256 KB L2 cache (for a 512 KB total), meaning that you’ll be able to perform multiple tasks such as digital rendering and gaming all while running virus scan or other background tasks. The 1 GB of installed RAM (1 x 512 MB DDR2) is a good start, but you’ll want to add more RAM to handle today’s demanding multimedia and productivity suites.
This notebook has a full-sized 101-key keyboard and a touchpad with four-way scroll zone on/off button plus dedicated vertical scroll up/down pad. The display (15.4″) with its 1280 x 800-pixel resolution is suitable for widescreen movies and videos. The integrated NVidia GeForce Go 6150 graphics/video card uses up to 128 MB of shared video memory (which is acceptable even for some highly demanding games) and the built-in Altec Lansing speakers provide excellent sound.
For those seeking great mobile performance technologies and high impact design, or even a desktop PC replacement, Presario F572 is a good choice even if it might be room for a bigger hard drive (it comes with just 80GB) and better Battery life performance (2.5 hours for the 6-cell battery). It is extra quiet while running, but the cd/dvd player on the other hand you can hear when it’s loading.
As for plug-in and -out, it has 3 USB 2.0 ports for connecting a wide range of peripherals–from digital cameras to MP3 players, 1 VGA monitor port, 1 S-Video port for connecting to a TV, a headphone jack and a microphone jack plus an integrated 56K modem (V.90) and an RJ-45 LAN network port.
