HP Compaq 6720s Review

The HP Compaq 6720s features the new 800FSB Core 2 Duo CPU (one of the latest processor family - the only thing this processor lacks compared to its faster brothers is a higher frequency and hardware accelerated virtualisation) and onboard Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100. What’s really interesting about this laptop is that it only weighs about 2.5Kgs so it would be easier to carry it around. It’s made out of black and gray plastic. The 15.4″ screen has a Samsung panel (LTN154X3-L01) with a 1280×800 resolution, very crisp and clear, with a reflective BrightView coating (this is great because no matter of the viewing angle, the image remains clear).

About the multimedia, there are no dedicated buttons (the only extra button is meant to control wireless/Bluetooth),and there is just a mono speaker (located above the keyboard). he soundcard is a Soundmax Digital HD Audio, with space for a microphone and speakers. The 120GB SATA hard drive combined with the 1GB Ram memory should be enough for a business laptop - the use of office tools, Internet, but not for games considering also the integrated X3100 graphics. The battery lasts about 4.5 hours.

The touchpad (from Synaptics) is with printed scrollzone on the right, but buttons who feel a bit cheap and highly sensitive. There are 3 USB 2.0 ports, Ethernet, power, VGA and modem ports on the left side, a SD/MMC cardreader and headphones plus microphone connectors at the front. Above the USB ports there is one ExpressCard slot with dustcover, while on the right side there is a hole for a Kensington lock. There are no FireWire or TV-out ports.
