The Fujitsu LifeBook S2210 is basicaly a business laptop, but is also very small and lightweight: 13.3” screen and 4.2 lbs, plus, it comes with a very good array of ports, things that will probably target allot of business mans. The design is simle and elegant, just the way a business laptop should be: black on the outside with charcoal grey and silver color accents on the keyboard and screen area, with little green, orange and blue indicator lights that look pretty on the upper side of the keyboard. Even if it is buid and designed as an ultra portable business laptop, it features multi-media buttons. Kudos for that, but, next time don’t forget the volume button. Volume is controlled via an Fn + F8 (volume down) or Fn + F9 (volume up) keystroke.

You’ll feel a bit of flex in the palm areas and there is a little bit of sink to the keyboard in the middle, also, the magnesium lid is a bit thin. The somewhat thinner material used is responsible for keeping the weight down, but by buying a good sleeve to help protect the laptop, you can also have a sense of safety. The aspect ratio of the screen may be difficult to get used to, but otherwise, the screen has XGA resolution (1024 x 768), glossy Crystal View, has vibrant colors and is very, very bright at full brightness. The Fujitsu LifeBook S2210 comes with two speakers at the top of the keyboard area, performing like any other laptops speackers - lacking bass.

This laptop is thought to be used with Office applications and web browsing, therefore it’s configuration includes only 1.6GHz AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-52, ATI x1150, in combination with 1-2 GB of RAM needed for Windows Vista platform. The touchpad is fine in size and slightly textured, it’s easy to use, but the buttons are a bit loud. Also includes a multifunctional fingerprint reader. Probably not the most quit and cool notebook around, but accetable. Is 2 hours and 17 minutes of battery life enaugh for you? Then this laptop is a fine choise with many features and Norton Anti-Virus.

The LG E200 is a 12.1” widescreen ultra portable notebook based on Pentium Dual-Core processor and ATI RS600ME chipset, providing more than enough power for everyday use of a computer. It has a simple uniform design with pattern over the glossy black or pink cover and silver finnish on the inside. On the other hand, the build is nice and sturdy, but not as solid as a laptop from the ThinkPad series. One thing I really like about this laptops is the fact that you can make it lighter by inserting a plastic travel weight instead of having the DVD drive in (0.2Kg lighter). A key feature of this notebook is the HDMI output, which allows you to connect this notebook to an HDTV with HDMI input.
Compared to other laptops, the screen could use some improvements when it comes to brightness. Rippling is not a problem and the viewing angles are just like in any other notebook. The keyboard has a good size and keys have good travel, but the touchpad is small. However, considering the size of the laptop, it’s probably not a wonder that LG could not build a larger touchpad. For extreme performance, you can upgrade up to 4GB of RAM. Webcam and a mic is included for web conferencing with the headphone and a mic jack located at the front. Beseides the preinstalled Windows Vista, LG also provides a nice gadget for the sidebar which displays brightness, wifi connections, battery life, presentation modes, external monitor, and other modules.
As a small computer and beseides the good placement of the cooling sistem, the E200 heats up quite a bit under heavy load, also meaning that the fan will make this one not the most silent laptop around. Most of the heat will be found underneath the laptop and some on the touchpad. For an ultraportale you may expect long battery life, but it’s not so. Under heavy load (wifi & Bluetooth on, high brightness, and heavy processor load) you can get about 1 hour and 40 minutes, while the maximum time in battery safe mode is just under 3 hours.

The new XPS M1330 was touted as the thinnest 13.3″ notebook and just under 4 lbs with the 4-cell battery and LED backlit display, boasted a radically new design for Dell, maintaining the multitude of colored lids for customers to personalize their laptop.
If you want a slylish portable 13.3 inch laptop, this one is to be considered. Along with the XPS M1330 itself there are more items that come in the package: Dell XPS branded laptop sleeve, Creative EP630 earbuds and an IR remote that fits into the ExpressCard slot. One of the main features of the XPS M1330 is the optional LED backlit display, which touts better color reproduction, higher brightness, lower power consumption and a thinner panel. This laptop also comes with a Creative webcam that can take video at up to 640×480 resolution while still pictures can be taken at up to 1280×1024.

The finish of the lid is matte and, unfortunately, picks up a lot of fingerprints, which are difficult to remove, but otherwise, the design is almost flavless: hinge design is quite aesthetically pleasing, but the implementation leaves a bit to be desired. Unlike other dell models, this one comes with a silver keyboard like the palm rest, leaving the surronding of the screen to be the only black part. While careful at the design, Dell was not paing attention to the build (related to manufacturing, not the materials used): the aluminum may separate from the base of the chassis. Also, if enough pressure is applied the entire display will flex, due to the thin design.

the number of I/O ports is relatively limited on the XPS M1330: a mic input, two headphone outputs, and an 8-in-1 card reader for various types of SD cards, MMC, xD and Memory Stick, slot-load DVD burner, an attachment for a computer lock, only 2 USB ports, a 4-pin Firewire, HDMI, 10/100mb Ethernet, a HD-15 VGA output and the power jack. While the performance of the processor will not be a problem, the XPS M1330 is the first XPS not to focus on gaming performance when it comes to graphic card. The speakers, located at the top of the laptop, above the media controls, can get pretty loud, but there’s minimal bass response. The keyboard. standard for a laptop in matter of size and key position, is fairly firm, with the slightest bit of flex. The responsive touchpad has some texture to it, with a good amount of travel and no loud click. Dell offers a 6-cell and 9-cell combo, allowing long battery life to its users.

Toshiba Satellite U200 series notebook (U200-PT7 is the newest model, with a faster processor, larger HD, and Vista Home Premium pre-installed) is a consumer utra-portable mashine (less than 1.4″ thick, starting at 4.1lbs.) with a lightweight, ultra-strong, magnesium alloy chassis and a matt grey finish that will not wear down. It has a very stong build with little rippling on the LCD (when high presure is applied), the hinges are very sturdy and there is no keyboard flex. As with all glossy screens, the viewing angle is quite narrow, but, the video quality is super, highest brightness level is very powerful and even at the lowest brightness, everything is still crystal clear. Nothing bad to say about the keyboard and touchpad.

Sound quality is ok at low to medium volumes, but higher than that it looses quality and also lacks bass. There isvery little heat in general; the hot spots is located on the handrests in front of the keyboard. As many others laptops on the market, it is very quiet. The 6-cell battery offers between 2 and 3 hours before you need to plug the laptop to the power network (this is ok, it’s about the average, but considering the hardware specifications, you can’t get more). If you purchase a configuration with T2250 Core Duo processor, you will find it very quick and snappy when it comes to using Vista while multitasking. However, you can get even better performance with faster core 2 duo processors.
