Toshiba Qosmio G45 Review

Toshiba Qosmio G45
The Qosmio G45 is the beast in the Toshiba lineup offering a high end Centrino Duo processor, 17″ screen and NVIDIA 8600M graphics processing (supports DirectX 10). This also means that it can be considered by the game players. Actually, the fact that it is equipped with high resolution display, HD-DVD Player, surround sound system, TV Tuner, and gaming performance makes it a perfect entertaining platform. Unlike other manufactures, Toshiba opted for a revers design: the lid is black and glossy white palm rest and keyboard with chrome dials and touch-sensitive selection buttons. Underneath the glossy plastic shell, bright blue LEDs, and chrome knobs is an alloy frame that supports the entire laptop.

The 17 inch glossy high resolution LCD offers wide horizontal viewing angles that let you see vibrant colors, pure whites, and backlighting even across the screen, but there are limited vertical angles. As for the sound system, the main speakers are located right above the keyboard, and the 2 smaller speakers located each side of the LCD, all of them creating an atmosphere with clearly defined bass, and pretty accurate midrange and high. With its layout (a small keyboard surrounded by the volume dial and media controls) there is plenty of extra whitespace around the entire typing surface. The touchpad, however, surface is large and there is also a fingerprint reader out of the way during normal use.

Fan noise stays within reasonable levels but it’s big surface get pretty warmed up. Battery life is not as long as in the case of other laptops (2 hours and 40 minutes in the best case) so you will use it mostly plugged-in. This notebook includes an expensive HD-DVD Burner: unless you really need this item, you could search for a cheaper notebook.
