Toshiba Satellite U200 Review

Toshiba Satellite U200
Toshiba Satellite U200 series notebook (U200-PT7 is the newest model, with a faster processor, larger HD, and Vista Home Premium pre-installed) is a consumer utra-portable mashine (less than 1.4″ thick, starting at 4.1lbs.) with a lightweight, ultra-strong, magnesium alloy chassis and a matt grey finish that will not wear down. It has a very stong build with little rippling on the LCD (when high presure is applied), the hinges are very sturdy and there is no keyboard flex. As with all glossy screens, the viewing angle is quite narrow, but, the video quality is super, highest brightness level is very powerful and even at the lowest brightness, everything is still crystal clear. Nothing bad to say about the keyboard and touchpad.

Sound quality is ok at low to medium volumes, but higher than that it looses quality and also lacks bass. There isvery little heat in general; the hot spots is located on the handrests in front of the keyboard. As many others laptops on the market, it is very quiet. The 6-cell battery offers between 2 and 3 hours before you need to plug the laptop to the power network (this is ok, it’s about the average, but considering the hardware specifications, you can’t get more). If you purchase a configuration with T2250 Core Duo processor, you will find it very quick and snappy when it comes to using Vista while multitasking. However, you can get even better performance with faster core 2 duo processors.
