Toshiba Tecra M8 Review

Toshiba Tecra M8
Tecra M8 laptop is a small one as you might figure from looking at the 13.3-inch screen, but, even if it’s on the border of the thin-and-light and ultra-portable categories, it isn’t the lightest notebook in the 13.3″ class. In the inside the Tecra M8 is packed with the 1.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T7100 processor, 1GB of RAM memory and offers 120GB of storage capacity. Its TruBite LCD that is suppose to offer better color, contrast, and overall quality when being compared to other displays, while the graphics card is powered by Intel and their Integrated Graphics Media Accelerator X3100.

The exterior is constructed of plastic (titanium silver colored) but it feels relatively solid. The optical drive is relatively quiet during operation and noise is not an issue while viewing DVDs. Horizontal viewing angles are better than average, colors are good and the backlight brightness remains even while viewing at extreme horizontal angles. This laptop includes a webcam whose colors are accurate indoors in good light but video and images are overexposed or “washed out” when outdoors or grainy when used in low light.

Both of the small speakers located above the keyboard produce an acceptable sound quality (no bass however). The keys of the black keyboard are very silent in operation and well placed on the notebook’s inner surface. The one-touch fingerprint reader (located between the touchpad’s buttons) does a wonderful job reading fingerprints without accidentally being triggered when you use the touchpad buttons. The standard 6-cell battery will keep you working for an impressive 4 hours and 8 minutes, but the 9-cell extended life battery is also available in a personalized purchase.
